What’s on the Horizon in 2012 and Beyond?

The New Media Consortium (NMC) and EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) have published the 2012 Horizon Report for Higher Education.

In the report, the Horizon Advisory Board has predicted that the following educational technologies will be widely adopted in the next few years.

  • Tablet computing and mobile apps. Time to adoption: one year or less.
  • Game-based learning and learning analytics. Time to adoption: two to three years.
  • Gesture-based computing and the Internet of things. Time to adoption: four to five years.
